The Maritime Authority of Jamaica is a statutory arm of the government of Jamaica and administers the Jamaica Ship Registry (JSR). The JSR conducts the registration of all types of ships including pleasure craft, ships under construction as well as those bareboat-chartered. We offer an attractive mix of registration incentives along with substantial technical expertise of our in-house surveyors who work to ensure that the needs and expectations of our owners are met.
As a full service maritime administration with IMO “White List” accreditation, the MAJ has various other maritime responsibilities including the development of the island’s shipping industry; the certification and welfare of its seafarers; marine pollution prevention and the registration of ships. All our operations are certified by the American Bureau of Shipping Quality Evaluators (ABSQE) to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Standards. The MAJ is headed up by a Director General.
Our commitment is to provide the highest level of service, both registration and technical services to our clients. The Registry operates offices in Germany and Jamaica with Deputy Registrars based in Greece, Malta, Germany, Holland, Monaco, New York, China, Finland, Ukraine, Portugal, Singapore and South East Asia and Panama. We also employ non-exclusive surveyors at all the main shipping areas. The Maritime Authority of Jamaica is focused on providing world-class support to our ship owners to facilitate the efficient operation of their maritime assets.
Our dedicated team of professionals is always available to meet your needs.
